Recycling Solar Eclipse Glasses – Medina County
Due to the combination of materials used in eclipse-viewing glasses (cardstock and solar film), Medina County cannot accept these glasses at drop-off locations or curbside pickup.
Collected glasses will undergo quality checks and then be sent to Astronomers Without Borders for potential reuse at future global solar eclipse events. Any glasses that cannot be reused will be directed to a specialized local recycler capable of separating the solar film from the paper cardstock.
Collection locations will be set up across Medina County. Details of these locations are provided below. Eclipse glasses not brought to designated drop-off points can be stored for future use or disposed of properly in the trash.
Glasses can also be dropped off at the Medina County Earth Day Festival on April 20th at Buffalo Creek Retreat.
