We are often asked the question, what do I do with my plastics that aren’t recyclable? (Which is basically the majority of plastic)

Here is our response:

👉🏻REDUCE what you consume. Pack utensils and straws so that you can use less plastic. Reduce your single use containers like yogurt. If you go through it, purchase it in bulk and create your own single serve versions.

👉🏻REUSE your containers. Use them when you have left overs at restaurants, crafting supplies, leftover food at home and more! What can you use containers for?

👉🏻REFUSE unnecessary single use plastics like straws, utensils (once we pack our own), giveaways, plastic bags and more.

👉🏻 RETHINK what you do. We recommend keeping your plastic waste for a week and auditing what you use. See what shifts you can make to reduce your output. Is there an alternative option that has a better recyclability (like glass and aluminum)?

Now to demand change… these are all items that we can do on a personal level to increase our impact, but we aren’t the only ones who are to blame. Manufacturers need to change their packaging or think of a way to effectively recycle their waste. At one point, they did this. Now, they have shifted the blame to us to reduce their cost. THIS NEEDS CHANGED.

As of last week, we have an answer.

👉🏻👉🏻Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act was just introduced to the Senate last week! This bill shifts the responsibility from us, back to the manufacturers who are pumping out these plastics!

👉🏻Contact your representative and government officials to let them know you support this bill! Find out more below as well as how to contact your rep.
